CFB Kingston – Intelligence Home Base

Kingston officially becomes the home of the Canadian Forces Intelligence Branch tomorrow.

A ceremony will take place on the McNaughton Parade Square to dedicate CFB Kingston as the Home Station of the Intelligence Branch.

The military says it is a significant event in Canadian Armed Forces history.

A Change of Command Ceremony for the School of Military Intelligence will also take place tomorrow morning.

Lieutenant-Colonel Pascal Ratté will take over from Lieutenant-Colonel Lester LeBlanc.

Kingston – Hit and Run Warrant

Kingston Police have issued an arrest warrant for a 33-year-old man after a woman was hit by a truck and received serious injuries Tuesday morning.

Police recovered the pickup truck involved in the crash.

The warrant for the arrest of Justin R. Hunter includes a long list of charges including attempted murder, forcible confinement and breach of recognizance – meaning he was already under court orders.

Police believe Hunter may be with his 41 year old sister Amy Hunter…travelling in her 1997 gray two-door Honda Civic with B-C plates.

Drug Bust

Two men in their 40’s face charges after a drug bust at a home in the Inverary area.

The OPP raided the residence on Wednesday and seized approximately half a pound of dry marihuana, marihuana plants and hydromorphone pills. A sawed off shotgun and several other firearms were also seized.  The two men have been charged with production of marihuana, possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of hydromorphone and firearms offences.

Dump Truck – Cyclist

Kingston Police have ticketed the driver of a dump truck after a flatbed trailer being towed by the truck hit a cyclist on Abbey Dawn Road.  The cyclist suffered minor injuries.

The bike rider was with a group of cyclists around 7:30 yesterday morning and a camera on one of the bikes captured what happened.

The dump truck didn’t stop after the accident – but police determined the 46 year old driver had no intent to strike or harm the cyclist.  He was ticketed for “Fail to turn out to left to avoid collision.”

Deputy – Order of Merit

Kingston’s deputy police chief is being honoured by the Governor General.

Deputy Chief Antje McNeely has been named a Member of the Governor General’s Order of Merit of the Police Forces to honour more than 30 years of service.

McNeely will receive the award during a ceremony in in Ottawa on September 15th.

Picton Morph Men

The Morph Men of Picton have been identified.

Prince Edward County OPP got complaints about people in morph suits staring into homes and acting suspiciously late Sunday night and early Monday morning of this week.

It turns out three young people from Picton were involved.

The OPP talked with them – cautioned them and say they won’t face any charges.

CB Lockdown Over

A lockdown at the maximum security unit of Collins Bay Institution has ended.

It was put in place on Tuesday to allow staff to conduct an exceptional search for safety reasons.

The search has been completed and the Correctional Service says normal routine resumed yesterday along with visits the institution.

Death at Joyceville

A prisoner has died behind bars at Joyceville institution.

66 year old Angus Snow was found unresponsive in his cell yesterday.

Snow is from the Georgetown area of Ontario and had been serving a sentence for second degree murder.

He was convicted in May of 2004 for beating and running over his wife with a van in a shopping mall parking lot.

He was later found by police in Thunder Bay – suffering from a drug overdose.
