Heat Warning

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Kingston and the Islands.

Temperatures are expected to hit 30 degrees or high today through Saturday.  The humidity is going to make it feel like it is in the 30’s to the low 40’s.

The heat warning has been issued to warn you about the risk of heat stroke or heat exhaustion.

OPP Crash

Two OPP officers from Napanee suffered serious injuries when their cruiser collided with a milk tanker truck in Loyalist Township.

The crash on County Road 4 near the 401 took place around 2:30 yesterday afternoon.

The driver of the milk truck wasn’t injured.

The OPP is now investigating the cause of the crash and is asking for anyone who witnessed what happened to contact Napanee OPP.

Woman Located

Kingston Police are thanking the public for helping locate an 85 year old Kingston woman about 2 and a half hours after she was reported missing.

Police issues a call for help in locating the woman after she was last seen by family in the area of  Bayridge Drive and Princess Street around 2:45 yesterday afternoon.

Police got a call from someone who spotted the woman on Princess Street near Midland Avenue at 5:05 in the afternoon. She was picked up by police and taken to hospital for medical attention.

County – New Logo/Brand

Frontenac County councillors have approved a new logo developed to help market the county and a new marketing tag line.

“In Frontenac”…is the tag line that will be used to promote Frontenac County as a destination for trips and trails, food and beverage and recreational lifestyle.

Economic Development Manager Anne Marie Young says the In Frontenac tagline will allow businesses and individuals to help market the county by using it in their marketing campaigns and as a hashtag on social media.

Family Doctors – New Patients

If you don’t have a family doctor or your family physician is retiring – the Oak Tree Family Health Centre on Front Road has announced its accepting new patients.

Dr. Elaine Ma and Dr. Kristy Cooke will be accepting new patients who don’t have a dedicated general practitioner.

The Oak Tree Family Health Centre will hold two sessions next week for people to register.

The clinics will be held Friday, July 29 from 5 -9 p.m. and Saturday, July 30 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Car for BCAK

The Taylor Automall is hoping to raise at least $19,000 dollars for Breast Cancer Action Kingston by raffling off a car.  The car dealership has held fund raising drives for the Kingston organization for the past three years during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  This year it decided to hold a raffle for a new Chevrolet Spark.  Tickets are $25 and it hopes to sell all 2,000 tickets.
