Third-Man Records is going where no record label has gone before.

While Jack White won’t be personally making the move, his record label will be launching a high-altitude-balloon-powered vessel into the upper atmosphere.

From there, a custom-built turntable, built by engineer Kevin Carrico, will play a gold-plated copy of “A Glorious Dawn”, to celebrate the label’s 3 millionth pressing, and the seventh year anniversary.

So yeah it’s cool and all, but if you play a hipster Carl Sagan remix in space where nobody else can hear it, does it still make a sound?
