Alright we’ve had our fun with the Christmas and Holiday music, don’t worry, it’s out now, well most of it.

See, I fully intended to have this week’s pick be “Happy Fucking New Year” by Psychostick, considering how my next pick will be in 2017, and this would be the perfect time. Plus that bass line is too good to pass up, but something was released over my holidays that demanded my attention, it’s so good I had to make it my pick. Let’s hop to it.

SCOTT’S PICK OF THE WEEK

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard- Nuclear Fusion

King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard is a band that you NEED to have on your watch list. They mix old psychadelic, modern rock, add some garage, and a whole lot of fuzz and that’s the closest I can get to describing them (in fact their latest album Nonagon Infinity is without a doubt my top album of 2016 and you need to listen to it now).

They’ve released 8 full albums in 5 years, and they’ve really come into their own, while making each album distinct. For example, Quarters is an album with 4 tracks, each lasting 10:10, Paper Mache Dream Balloon is entirely acoustic, and Nonagon Infinity was written to be played on a loop for eternity.

Their next album, Flying Microtonal Banana, will be released February 24, 2017. Explorations into Microtonal Tuning, the teasers read, and if the groove and catchiness of this track is any indication, they’ll continue to kick ass.

Also I plan on adding any upcoming tour dates to these picks, so it makes it that easier to enjoy the experience live
