Kingston Armed Robbery Suspect Caught

Thanks to the public’s help, Kingston Police have arrested a suspect involved in an armed robbery at a downtown convenience store.

Yesterday afternoon a man committed a robbery using a knife at the Beaver Variety store on Princess Street near Montreal Street.

Police released a description of the suspect, along with surveillance footage which resulted in an arrest by 8:30pm.

A 35 year old Kingston man is in police custody and is being held for a bail hearing this morning.

Cataraqui Centre – Assault
A local teen has been hospitalized after an assault at the Cataraqui Centre.
Police were called to the mall on Wednesday evening after two males had assaulted another male.
The 18-year-old victim was shopping when he was confronted and a fight broke out. The scuffle escalated to the ground before bystanders intervened.
The victim was treated by Frontenac Paramedic Services and transported to hospital for further evaluation.
A 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old youth have been jointly charged by police with assault.

K-Town Countdown

Christmas Traffic Stop – Drug Charges
Two Brockville residents are facing drug charges after a traffic stop on Christmas Day. Police stopped a vehicle around 9pm. After speaking with the driver, the officer felt there was a good possibility there could be drugs in the car. A search of the car turned up $2,500 in cash and a variety of drugs including cocaine with a total street value of about $5,000.

The driver of the vehicle faces five counts drug trafficking and one of possession of proceeds of crime.

One of the female passengers is has been charged with two counts of drug possession.

The other passenger has not been charged.

Trenton Teen Recovering
A 15 year old Trenton boy is recovering from non-life threatening injuries after being struck by a minivan Wednesday afternoon at Division & Ford Streets. . Police say no charges will be laid. No further details are available at this time.

Prince Edward County Animal Cruelty

A Prince Edward County man has been banned from owning animals for three years after pleading guilty to animal cruelty charges. The Ontario SPCA began an investigation in October 2015 after receiving a report of an abandoned cat and dog at a condemned home. 40 year old Benny Miles was also ordered to pay a $300 fine and $200 to cover veterinary fees.
