BELLEVILLE MAN CHARGED IN NEW YEARS STABBING
A 24 year old Belleville man is charged with aggravated assault after a stabbing at a downtown bar around 2am New Years Day. Police were called just after A fight between two customers ended with one of the men being stabbed. The victim was taken to Kingston General Hospital for treatment and voluntarily discharged himself later the same day.

BREAK IN SUSPECTS SOUGHT BY POLICE
Prince Edward County OPP are looking for suspects in two break-ins over the weekend – including one in which a rifle was stolen.On Monday night a homeowner reported a break-in at a his home. Along with a rifle, a pellet gun, electronics and jewellery were stolen. This just after two days earlier where a Main Street Picton Pizzeria had its front window smashed and cash register taken in the early hours of the morning. Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crimestoppers.

WOLF ISLAND FERRY OUT OF SERVICE WEDNESDAY
The Wolfe Island Ferry will be out of service for regular maintenance today.  The Ministry of Transportation is working with emergency services to ensure emergency responses are available are available while the maintenance work is being done.  The final ferry trip from the island will be at 9 a.m and the ferry is expected to be back up and running by 2pm.

CITY WORKERS REACH NEW DEAL
Inside and outside workers with the city of Kingston have signed a new agreement. The deal was reached following a month of negotiations between the city and its largest union which represents close to 900 employees who do road maintenance and garbage collection. .  The new deal includes a wage hike of 5.2 percent over a four-year period. There were also slight increases in benefits.

TWEED FATAL
Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a fatal tractor accident near Tweed. Officers dispatched to the scene on Colonization Road Saturday night found a tractor had rolled over.32-year-old Myles Biggs of Tweed, died at the scene.  The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

SALVATION ARMY SURPASSES KETTLE CAMPAIGN GOAL
The Salvation Army’s Kettle Campaign in Kingston has wrapped up for another season.  The goal this year was $290 thousand dollars. This year the annual holiday campaign manage4d to bring in a record breaking $310 thousand dollars.  The campaign was short by nearly 25 % just a week before Christmas.  Thanks to the generosity of Kingston and it’s volunteers, programs and services are able to continue.
