Police – Inmate

An inmate has taken off from the Henry Trail Correctional Facility next to Collins Bay Institution.

51 year old David Maracle was deemed a long term offender in 2009 after being convicted for three sexual assaults.  Kingston Police say Maracle left the halfway house on foot Sunday evening.

Kingston Police and the OPP searched the area but didn’t find Maracle.

He’s described as 5 foot…ten…200 pounds with short dark hair and was wearing green-grey cargo pants, a white t-shirt and dark jacket or sweater.

Police say anyone who thinks they have seen Maracle should call 911.

Accident

There was a single vehicle crash on Rutledge Road west of Perth Road around 6:00 a.m. Monday.

Firefighters had to extricate a woman in the vehicle.  It was upside down.

There is no indication the crash was caused by slippery driving conditions because of light freezing rain.

The Frontenac Paramedics Twitter account says they treated a 53 year old woman at the scene and transported her to hospital.

Kingston March

A crowd estimated at around two thousand people gathered in Springer Market Square as part of Kingston’s Women’s March.  The march began at McBurney Park Saturday morning and went down Princess Street to the Square.

Marches were held in every major city in Canada and around the world in response to the inauguration of U.S. President Donald Trump. The largest took place in Washington, D.C. where the crowd was estimated at over half a million people.

Shine a Light

A group of about fifty people gathered in Springer Market Square on Saturday evening to Shine a Light on Mental Health.

They lit candles as part of the Girl Guides new Mighty Minds program.  It is designed to help girls develop positive mental health skills.

Stunt Driving

The OPP says this Kingston senior apparently had a need for speed…but will be cooling her hot foot after being stopped doing nearly double the speed limit.

The 74-year-old Kingston woman has been charged with stunt driving after being stopped for going 151 kilometres per hour in an 80 zone on Highway 15 near Sand Hill Road on Friday afternoon.  Police seized her vehicle for seven days and also suspended her license for a week.

A 35 year old Kingston man had his vehicle seized for a week and his license suspended when the OPP stopped him for going 171 km/h on the 401 eastbound near Napanee last Wednesday.
