This past week, the music world was shocked to hear of the passing of Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Gainseville, Florida native Tom Petty. So before the start of the fourth quarter, the Florida Gators paid tribute to the rocker by playing Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down” to 90, 000 fans – who all sung along.

Before becoming famous, Petty worked as a groundskeeper at UF. According to UF’s website, the team is looking to adopt playing the song as a new tradition.
