Motorcycle Crash – Driver Dies

A motorcycle crash and fire north of Kingston has claimed the life of a 22-year-old man from Parham.

The motorcycle Bailey Green was driving crashed into a tree on Levesque Road near Clair Road shortly before 4:30 on Tuesday afternoon.

Green suffered severe burns when an accelerant he was carrying in his backpack caught fire.

He was rushed to Kingston General Hospital by paramedics where he later died of his injuries.

 

NDSS – Assault – Youth Charged

A 16-year-old has been charged with one count of assault after an incident at Napanee District Secondary School that was captured on video and shared on social media.

The video shows a male student tackling another student and pulling him to the ground in the hallway of the high school in Napanee last Friday.

The victim was a special needs student.

The OPP issued a warning about retribution against the 16-year-old who has been charged with assault.

They say social media posts have generated responses of a threatening nature.

The Limestone District School Board says it is working with everyone involved to ensure an incident like this does not happen again.

 

Contraband – Collins Bay

More contraband has been found at Collins Bay Institution.

The Correctional Service says staff member confiscated multiple packages containing contraband and unauthorized items in the medium security unit of the prison on Tuesday.

A news release says the seizure was the result of the combined efforts of correctional officers, detector dog teams and security intelligence officers.

The medium security unit is under a lockdown to allow staff to conduct an exceptional search and visits have been suspended.

 

Missing Man Found

Kingston Police say a man who had been reported missing has been found.

Police had issued a request for help in locating 50-year-old Daniel Craley after he hadn’t been seen since last Thursday.  Police issued a brief statement yesterday saying Craley had been found yesterday morning and is safe.

 

Council – Budget Meetings

Kingston city council will begin reviewing the city’s budget for 2020 on November 25th.

Budge meetings will take place on the first three days of that week starting at 6pm each day.

City Council is hoping to adopt the 2020 Municipal Operating and Capital Budget at its meeting scheduled for December 17th.

 

United Way – 70%

The United Way KFLA Campaign has hit the 70% mark.

The campaign has raised just over $2,479,000 of its $3.55 million-dollar goal.

Students at St. Paul’s Catholic School hosted their annual Halloween activities fundraiser for United Way today complete with costumes and activities.

The United Way KFLA campaign wraps up on November 28th.
