Missing – Found

A 16 year old Kingston girl has been found after police asked for help from the public in locating Sundreah Pyne.

Kingston Police issued a call for help in locating the girl yesterday.

Sergeant Steve Koopman says Pyne was located last night and is safe and sound.

 

Hydro One – Power Outage

A blackout that left 738 Hydro One customers in Kingston west end in the dark lasted for a couple of hours.

Hydro One hasn’t said what caused the power failure last night in the area on the north side of Princess Street in the subdivision behind the Rona Store.

 

Lockdown – Collins Bay

An exceptional search is underway in the medium security unit at Collins Bay Institution.

Inmates were placed under a lockdown around 1pm on Tuesday to allow staff to search for contraband and weapons.

Visits have been suspended until the search is completed.

 

Domestic Assault

A 33 year old Kingston woman spent the night in a police cell after being arrested following a domestic dispute that escalated into a fight.

Police say multiple witnesses saw a woman assaulting a man in the area of John Counter Boulevard and Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard around 6:30 last night.

He left on foot…the woman left in a vehicle.

She was arrested a short time later and will appear for a bail hearing today on a charge of assault.

 

Kingston – Pot Stores

The owners of a Kingston retail outlet that worked for years to make cannabis legal is hoping to win one of 42 new licenses to operate a store.

The Ontario government announced yesterday it will hold a lottery for 42 retail stores.

It will also offer eight stores for First Nations reserves on a first come first served basis.

420 Kingston changed its name to Calyx and Trichomes when it moved to its new location on Midland Avenue near the LCBO in hopes of becoming a cannabis retailer.

But longtime cannabis advocates Jennawae McLean and Lorenzo Cavion were shut out during the first lottery for cannabis stores.  They hope to win in the upcoming lottery.

 

Buskers Rendezvous

Street performers invade downtown Kingston starting today.

The 31st annual Kingston Buskers Rendezvous includes daytime performances in Confederation Park. Princess Street will be closed between Bagot and Wellington for big circle shows from 1-3pm.

Performances tonight will take place in Springer Market Square and on Ontario Street in the area of City Hall.

The fire show is set for 10pm on Saturday on Princess Street in the Hub and the Grand Finale starts at 6pm on Sunday in Confederation Park.
