A small Aston University study found that men are doing more solo housework, like cooking and mowing the lawn…but home management is still falling on women’s shoulders.

25 couples were interviewed for the study and found that moms tended to take on multitasking chores like remembering birthdays and what children need to bring to school. Men do more housework compared to men 50 years ago, but they tend to be traditional “man-type” tasks like mowing the lawn and DIY tasks.

“Many of the tasks women are responsible for are being carried out simultaneously with other household tasks – this includes the cognitive labour of household management,” Dr. Emily Christopher said. “The problem is it’s invisible, so it isn’t recognized as work,” she explained. (Independent)
