Researchers at Hebrew SeniorLife collected data on 11,000 nights of sleep and found that older adults tend to sleep best at temperatures between 68 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit.

Sleep efficiency tended to drop when the temperature climbed.

“These results highlight the potential to enhance sleep quality in older adults by optimizing home thermal environments,” Dr. Amir Baniassadi said.

Because sleep needs differ, it may help for couples to sleep in different rooms. Other ways to get a good night’s sleep include avoiding late-night eating, avoiding alcohol, and refraining from caffeine in the late afternoon. (NY Post)
