Woman Arrested – City Vehicle Theft

A City of Kingston truck and two police vehicles have been damaged after the truck was stolen from Cooks arena.

The truck was taken just before nine yesterday morning.  A brief pursuit ended on Concession Street near Nelson Street when a police SUV cut off the truck and it was boxed in by a cruiser.

Officers had the break the vehicles window to arrest the driver.

A 31 year old woman appears for a bail hearing today on a variety of charges.

Warrant – Violent Break In

Kingston Police have issued an arrest warrant for a 31 year old man wanted for a violent break in at a home in the 600 block of Montreal Street at the end of October.

Francis – Frankie – Joseph MacIntosh is wanted on charges including robbery and breach of probation.  Police say two men broke into a home, a knife and bear spray were used and the valuables of a 42 year old woman were stolen.  She suffered minor injuries.

Another 31 year old man has already been arrested in the case.

Drug Dealer Sentenced

A 22 year old Kingston drug dealer is going to prison for five years.

Thomas Donovan pleaded guilty to three counts of possession of crystal meth and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Donovan was charged by police in February and again in October.

On top of that, he had been convicted in 2011 and 2012.

ALCDSB – Chair Selected

Trustees with the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board have acclaimed Greg Speagle to his second term as chair of the board.

Speagle is the trustee for Prince Edward County, Greater Napanee, Loyalist Township, Stone Mills and Addington Highlands.

Speagle says trustees will visit schools and attend school community events across the Board to keep up with issues facing students and educators.

Brockville Says No

Brockville City Council has turned down a request for funding from the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation.  The Foundation asked Brockville for $25,000 a year for the next four years to help fund a new MRI machine.  Councillors decided against the request with one saying they shouldn’t be funding the project when Brockville General Hospital is laying off staff.

Polson Park – Winter Clothing

Polson Park Public School is asking for donations of winter clothing for families in need.

The school will be collecting clean, gently used children’s and adult’s winter clothing until December 18th.  It says over one in ten families in Kingston is currently living in poverty and the winter clothing will be given to families in need at the school and to Dawn House Women’s Shelter.
