Bob Rock Says There’s More To Metallica’s Near-Breakup

Former Metallica producer Bob Rock told the Brazilian podcast Wikimetal recently that the “full story” behind the band’s near-collapse in 2001 and 2002 –chronicled in the 2004 documentary Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster — has yet to be told. Rock explained, “(The movie is) just a very small fragment of what actually happened. You would have to write a very long book to really talk about everything that went on at that time . . . Actually, there should be a documentary on the documentary (laughs) — to be quite honest — to get the full story.”

Rock discussed his role in those events, saying, “They were fragmenting and falling apart. Really, I was a friend, more than anything, on that record, just trying to keep those guys together and inspired and going.”

B.B. King Laid To Rest

(Classic Rock) B.B. King was buried in Indianola, Mississippi, near the place of his birth. Over 700 people attended his funeral, many unable to fit into the Bell Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Mississippi Public Broadcasting screened the full event.

Reverend Herron Wilson, who led the funeral, hailed King’s example to others trying to rise out of hardship, noting: “Hands that once picked cotton would someday pick guitar strings on a national and international stage.”

He was buried in the grounds of the B.B. King Museum And Delta Interpretive Centre. Meanwhile, the bluesman’s son Willie has played down concerns surrounding the death.

Van Halen Inspired Dazed & Confused Sequel

(Antimusic) The title of the hit movie “Dazed and Confused,” set in the 1970s, was inspired by a Led Zeppelin classic and we now learn that the film’s “spiritual sequel”, set in the 1980s, has a title inspired by a Van Halen song.

Richard Linklater’s new film “Everybody Wants Some,” is expected to hit theaters this fall and while not a traditional sequel to “Dazed and Confused,” the synopsis bills the movie as the ‘spiritual sequel’ to the hit 1993 movie.

The new film jumps ahead a decade to “the world of 1980 college life” the film will show “a group of friends as they navigate their way through the freedoms and responsibilities of unsupervised adulthood.”
