Smashing Pumpkins & Marilyn Manson Wont Play Greatest Hits Concerts

(Classic Rock) Smashing Pumpkins and Marilyn Manson won’t be playing purely greatest hits sets when they embark on their The End Of Times tour this summer.

Smashing Pumpkins’ frontman Billy Corgan said at a Q&A session to promote the tour: “These days, people come expecting a greatest hits concert whether you want to give it to them or not.

“So you can either play that concert and a lot of people leave happy, or you can decide not to play the concert and your fans that sit on the internet every day are happy. Then the other 97% of the people are angry and lobbing firebombs at you on Twitter because they didn’t get their teenage memory handed back to them.”

Paul McCartney Writes Songs For Children’s Book

Former Beatle Paul McCartney co-authored a children’s book titled, High In the Clouds, in 2005. He’s brought the project to life by producing an animated film based on the book. In addition to voicing one of the characters, McCartney has also written seven or eight new songs for the project. One of the songs is a collaboration with Lady Gaga who discussed working with the legend on Instagram.

Lady Gaga said, “Had a beautiful session with Sir Paul McCartney and friends. Working on one of his many secret projects! Killer musicians, vibe, and lots of laughs . . . Always a good time with my buddy. I’ll never forget when he called me last year to work and I hung up the phone cuz I thought it was a prank!”

McCartney has also recorded a song with Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready for the film which is tentatively scheduled for a 2015 release.

High In the Clouds 3D was announced in 2013 and at time McCartney shared that he would doing a score for the film. According to Rolling Stone, it isn’t clear if McCartney still plans to score the film. He hasn’t done a score for a film since 1967’s The Family Way.

Upon announcing the project, McCartney said in a released statement, “High in the Clouds is a passion project for me . . . I am thrilled to be working in partnership with Randa Ayoubi and David Corbett at RGH, and David Michael Lynne and Bob Shaye of Unique Features. Working with the highly creative talent at these companies together with Josh Klausner and Tony Bancroft, we will be able to create a warm, funny and moving animated film that will resonate with worldwide audiences.”
