Public Health – Warning

KFL&A Public Health has now issued an alert to warn residents about opioid overdoses in the area.

There have been three reported by Frontenac Paramedics and two others that have happened in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.

Health officials say the five overdoses can be linked to fentanyl – a powerful opiate that is being added to other drugs like heroin, cocaine and crystal methamphetamine.

The Public Health Unit says anyone who is an injection drug user or who knows one should have a Naloxone kit to treat an overdose.  The kits are available for free at the Street Health Centre on Barrack Street in Kingston.
