No Charges – Fatal Crash

The OPP says the driver of a vehicle that hit and killed a man in Inverary will not face charges.

Police say their investigation has determined the driver was not at fault in the death of 38 year old Andrew Ellerbeck on Friday night.

Ellerbeck died when he was hit be a vehicle on Perth Road near Davidson Road.

Sexual Assault

A 46 year old Kingston man has been charged with sexually assaulting his wife and taking pictures while she was sleeping.

Kingston Police say it happened when the woman took a sleeping pill last Thursday night.

The man has been charged with sexual assault and secretly recording a person for a sexual purpose.

Man Charged – Assault

A violent outburst involving a woman and two good Samaritans has resulted in charges against a 50 year old Kingston man.

Police say the man and his common-law were arguing at the intersection of Queen and Montreal Streets around 10 p.m. on Friday when the woman was thrown to the ground.  A witness tried to stop the assault but was punched and knocked out when he fell to the ground and hit his head.  Another man was shoved into a utility pole and suffered a gash to his face.

The 50 year old has been charged with assault, assault causing bodily harm and two counts of breach probation.

Quinte Mall – Pepper Spray

The Quinte Mall in Belleville was closed early last night after a man used pepper spray on another man.

It happened near the entrance to the Winners store around 7:30 last night.

Paramedics treated people near the scene and two were taken to hospital.  They’ve been released.

Police are looking for the man who used the pepper spray and took off.

Chamber – Tax Change Meeting

The Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce is hosting a special session tonight on the federal government tax changes for small businesses.

The Chamber has arranged for members from Kingston Advocacy for Small Business to speak at the session tonight at the Delta Hotels Kingston Waterfront.

The Chamber says it believes proposed tax changes will negatively impact small businesses in Kingston and across Canada.  It’s asking the government to slow down the process and conduct a comprehensive review of the tax system.

Frontenac County – New Mapping

Frontenac County has introduced new online maps that provides enhanced features.

It’s called Frontenac Maps 2.0 and features interactive maps with information on everything from cycling routes to road data and zoning information.

The maps are available online at www.frontenacmaps.ca.

100 Mile Run

A 66 year old Kingston man has realized his dream of successfully completing a 100 mile run within the given time limit…and it turns out his 13th attempt was the lucky one.

Jack Judge successfully finished The Haliburton Forest 100 on September 9th.

He made the 30 hour deadline with six minutes to spare and was greeted by cheers and tears at the finish line.

Judge says he’s already thinking of next year and hopes to improve his time on the 100 mile course.
