Consultant – Intensification

A consultant hired by the city to discuss urban intensification says Kingston has some of the worst architecture on a waterfront he has ever seen.  Vancouver urban planner Brent Toderian calls them slab towers and says Kingston has a big challenge with future development. He says developers need to be open-minded to new approaches to building…and the community needs to think about more than the height of a building.

Toderian says the issue of bringing more people to live in the downtown area is too important to get lost in fighting over how high a building is going to be.  He spoke at a public meeting last night and has been meeting with the city’s planning staff.
