Humboldt Broncos

There were tears and hugs as hundreds of people gathered at the hockey arena in Humboldt, Saskatchewan last night, to remember the 15 people who died in Friday’s bus crash. Fourteen were injured.

Among the dignitaries on hand were Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe.

The Kingston Frontenacs honoured the team last night with a tribute before their playoff game against the Barrie Colts.  A book of condolences was set up at the game and will be sent to the Broncos.

Proceeds from the Frontenacs 50/50 draw will go to support the GoFundMe account set up to help players and family.  $11,900 was raised last night at the Frontenacs game and Collinson Custom Building is adding a thousand dollars to that amount.  The tragedy has clearly touched Canadians.

The GoFundMe account had raised over 4.7 million dollars by 8:00 a.m. today.

Building Restoration

A derelict building on Kingston’s inner harbour will become home to one and two bedroom apartments.  Kingston city council has approved the permits for ABNA Investments to refurbish the old limestone warehouse at 9 North Street…on the edge of Douglas Fluhrer Park.  Mayor Bryan Paterson says the former Imperial Oil building will become a much needed addition to the city’s housing supply in the downtown area.

Inclusive Walk and Run

About 400 people took part in the annual Kids Inclusive Walk and Run in Kingston on Sunday.

It is held to celebrate the work done by the Children’s Treatment Centre at Hotel Dieu Hospital and its Kids Inclusive program.

Organizers are hoping the event raised over $30,000 this year.
