We can officially confirm that Rod Stewart’s still got it, baby!

The legend played Vancouver’s Rogers Arena and moments after his opening bagpipe ensemble cleared the arena, Rod Stewart took the stage at 7:30 p.m. sharp. If you were even half an hour late to the show, you would’ve missed a couple tunes. He made sure to highlight eight songs that he did not play on his last trip through town, with hits like “Some Guys Have All The Luck”, “The First Cut Is The Deepest”, and “Rhythm of my Heart”.

Rod Stewart was backed by a full band, complete with two guitarists, multiple percussionists, a pianist, saxophonist, two violinists and three female back-up singers. All had an incredible amount of talent, but the saxophonist really stood out. Partially because the saxophone is an instrument you just don’t hear that often anymore, but also because this guy could seriously play! Second to Rod, the gentleman behind the saxophone rocked!

You can hear him in the background of this clip of “Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright)”. Also keep an eye out for Rod’s classic dance moves!

The show didn’t have the biggest budget or most impressive stage, but it certainly was personal.  Rod gave the audience a glimpse into his personal life with images of his family floating by the jumbo screens, shots of his knighting ceremony, and moments that he described as near and dear to his heart.

He also dedicated one of his songs to Martin Luther King Jr. and the “March For Our Lives” efforts, and since he was in Canada the moment also went out to those affected by the recent tragedy involving the Humboldt Bronco’s hockey team.

If one’s things for sure, at age 73, with over six decades in the industry under his belt, Rod Stewart still has that wonderfully raspy voice, a bunch of “so bad they’re good” dance moves, and can put on a great show!
