Central Frontenac – Forest Fire

 

The rain Kingston got overnight will help with dry conditions in the region….but fire conditions remain extremely dangerous because of the extended period of dry weather.  Most municipalities have banned all outdoor fires and that includes fireworks because of the danger.

Central Frontenac Fire and Rescue spent three days last week battling a forest fire in the area of Arden Road and Pitt Road.  Fire Chief Greg Robinson says the cause is believed to have been a lightning strike that hit a tree.

The fire was discovered late Thursday afternoon and covered approximately 2.5 hectares of heavy brush and trees.  The fire was declared out at 11:30 Saturday morning.

 

401 Crash – Driver Charged

 

A crash on the 401 eastbound yesterday morning that tied up traffic has resulted in a careless driving charge.

The OPP says a transport slammed into another tractor trailer parked on the side of the eastbound 401 on Monday morning.  Nobody was injured in the crash.

The 24 year old driver from Brampton was charged by police.

 

Woman Falls – Man Charged

 

Kingston Police say a woman suffered serious injuries when she fell out of a window during a domestic dispute.  Paramedics were called to a residence around 1am Sunday after the woman fell about 10 and a half feet to the ground. A 32 year old Kingston man has been charged with assault and assault causing bodily harm.

 

Woman Facing Multiple Charges

 

A Kingston woman is facing multiple charges after a vehicle was deliberately driven at a man and was repeatedly driven into a building just south of Picton.

Officers were called to a property on County Road 22 around 7am on Saturday.

Two officers were assaulted when they went to arrest the woman.

The 39 year old Kingston woman has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, domestic assault, domestic mischief and two counts of assaulting police.

 

Man – Multiple Charges

 

A 31 year old Kingston man is facing 20 charges after skipping out on court dates and avoiding arrest warrants for a couple of months.

One of the warrants was issued after a man was captured on security video dropping his shorts and defecating on the floor of an apartment building laundry room on Regent Street on June 28th.

The man was arrested on Saturday.

 

Hip House – For Sale

 

A Kingston house that was once home to 689 cats…a Guinness World Record…and was featured in the video for The Tragically Hip’s hit song, ‘Poets’ is up for sale.

The asking price for 94 Elm Street is $700,000.

The real estate company says it’s hoping a big fan of the Kingston rock band will want to buy the home.

The house on Elm Street was also home to Jack and Donna Wright who hold the world record for the largest number of cats living in a house.
